Jason Kent Carpenter’s film “Agent 6” has won the Golden Ace Award at the Las Vegas Film Festival! This is the eighth film festival award for Agent 6 which has been on it’s festival run since March of 2011. Agent 6 screened on Saturday, July 21 at 6:10 pm  in the Las Vegas Hilton Theater to a packed audience. the red carpet was great along with all the informative panels that were hosted by filmmakers from around the world.

Film production company Tiger House Films showcases a period action film project Dark Roads, written and directed by Tiger House Films founder Jason Kent Carpenter. Set in the 1970’s, Dark Roads tells the story of Paul Sansone, a mob recruit who perilously falls in love with a Russian woman trafficked for the sex trade. The film debuted at Young Cuts film festival In Montreal and was also screened in LA and New York as an official selection at the Bel-Air & Williamsburg International film festivals among others. Dark Roads employed professional stuntmen such as Eric Marche (known for work on big budget films such as Transformers), the special effects company Synapse FX, and armorers from ISS Prophouse who handled live ammunition from vintage handguns and a tommy gun.

Shot with two RED One cameras, the majority of the Dark Roads film production was filmed in the warehouse district of downtown Los Angeles, next to the L.A. river. this area is known for having a gritty urban industrial aesthetic and has been used for many fashion, commercial, television shoots and featured in films such as Chinatown (1974) and Grease (1978).

“Dark Roads” received formal distribution through the film Distributor Indie Media Entertainment (IME), one of the first independent film distributors to bring video-on-demand rentals to mobile devices like the iPhone and iPad. Indie Media Entertainment discovered “Dark Roads” in the marketplace at the Palm Springs film festival and licensed the film.

Tiger House Films is happy to announce that Jason Kent Carpenter’s film production “Agent 6”  is now globally live and available for download on iTunes!

Tiger House Film’s secret agent film production is being distributed by the largest short film distributor in the world, Shorts International which is based in London, England. Shorts International has a partnership with Apple to bring the highest quality films to the global community via iTunes as well as their own television network called Shorts TV, which screens high quality short films 24 hours a day 7 days a week.

“Agent 6” is earmarked on Shorts TV for September’s “Secret Agent” Programming to coincide with the James Bond “Skyfall” film release, happening September 2012. While having an incredible festival run, obtaining distribution at the Hollyshorts Festival was icing on the cake for our film. The dedicated crew and cast are the reason for the film’s success.

Los Angeles production company Tiger House Films has announced that Jason Kent Carpenter’s award winning short film “Agent 6” is scheduled for an international release on iTunes by it’s distributor, Shorts International. Their statements are as follows.

We are very excited about this news due to the fact that the exposure of our film “Agent 6” will be elevated to a global scale. As an LA production company, we at Tiger House Films have lofty goals to be known in the near future as an international production company and this partnership with iTunes takes us one step closer to our goal.

Due to the theme of our film, Shorts International has also scheduled to program our project on their television program, Shorts TV in conjunction with the new James Bond film entitled “Skyfall” this coming September 2012.

On October 27th, 2011,  Los Angeles production company founder and director Jason Kent Carpenter’s action film “Agent 6” won the “Best Action Short”  festival award at the Beverly Hills Film, T.V. and New Media Festival.

After screening at the Laemmle Music Hall 3 off of Wilshire blvd., The festival award was given to Carpenter after a brief speech at the closing night ceremonies hosted by Sofitel In Beverly Hills, California. Entertainment industry professionals had a chance to gather and celebrate the end of the successful and eclectic film festival. Festival director Donna Spangler handed out the awards as she graciously thanked every filmmaker and sponsor responsible for making the festival a great success.

The Tiger House Films team had a great experience at this film festival. Other than “Agent 6” having won it’s second festival award to date,  the team had a great opportunity to meet new film makers in the Los Angeles area with whom they hope to collaborate in the near future.

Aside from the top notch parties and networking events, The Beverly Hills Film, T.V. and New media festival held expert panels discussing the new age of web content and marketing films according to the newest online trends. These panels were incredibly informative and gave new insight into the future of major mainstream media content on the web.

The Los Angeles production team responsible for creating Agent 6 is made up of many die-hard thriller and spy movie genre fans who have followed the 007 series as well as the classics such as Jean Pierre Melville’s Le Cercle Rouge and Alred Hitchcock’s Notorious therefore the acceptance into the Thrillspy International Film Festival this year was particularly gratifying for a team who created a film that is essentially a tribute to the best genre in cinema (Our opinion of course).

Los Angeles production company Tiger House Films’ Agent 6 has won the “Special Jury Award” under the fiction category at the Action/Cut Short Film Competition. This marks the first film festival award for the secret agent thriller Agent 6 which has began its festival run in May of 2011. The film made its debut at the Playhouse West Film Festival, screening in North Hollywood’s El Portal Theatre to a packed audience.

Agent 6 has been screening at film festivals in and around the Los Angeles area and has gained momentum due to positive reviews from audiences and peers. Audiences have particularly taken a liking to the visual style of the film as well as the music incorporated into the story.

Action/Cut is a unique, industry-based, Los Angeles competition which showcases filmmakers from across the world, recognize the most talented, and honor their work by bringing them to the attention of the Hollywood film industry.

Los Angeles production company Tiger House Films’ Agent 6 has been selected as one of the top 100 international films that will be programming at this years YoungCuts International Film Festival In Montreal, Quebec Canada.

The YoungCuts Film Festival is North America’s only international film festival whose primary purpose is to advance the careers of young filmmakers. The Festival features all types of short films produced by people 25 years old and under, and was created to help launch talented young people’s film and television careers, by providing exposure and recognition of their works.

YoungCuts’ first festival was held in Toronto in 2001. In 2006, the Festival moved to Montreal. Interest in the Festival has grown dramatically since its inception, and the Festival is now the largest of its kind in the world. In its current format, the festival chooses the best 100 films from approximately 1,000 films that are considered. Sponsors have included Pepsi, American Airlines and Air Canada.

In addition to the broad-based participation by young North American filmmakers, actors and actresses, the Festival encourages participation from young filmmakers around the world. The 2011 edition will be held in Montreal beginning September 29, 2011.

The festival screenings will take place at Guzzo Spheretech in Montreal, Quebec, Canada beginning on Friday, September 30th with screenings at 1:00pm, 7:00pm and 9:00pm. The festival will continue on Saturday, October 1st with screenings at 5:00pm, 7:00pm and 9:00pm and will conclude on Sunday, October 2nd with screenings at 5:00pm, 7:00pm and 9:00pm. Agent 6 the action thriller directed by Los Angeles production company founder Jason Kent Carpenter has been accepted into its third film festival this month (June 2011).

Following the premier of the film at the Playhouse West Film Festival this past weekend in North Hollywood, we are excited to announce that Newfilmmakers New York has scheduled the screening of “Agent 6” in their summer lineup for 2011.

Screenings will be held at the historic Anthology Film Archives in New York City. The venue is a film archive and theater located at the 32 Second Avenue on the corner of East 2nd Street in the East Village neighborhood of Manhattan, New York City devoted to the preservation and exhibition of film, with particular focus on independent, avant-garde, and artist work.

“The NewFilmmakers Series was begun in 1998 by NYU Film Students in order to show their work and promote themselves in New York film community. Then, and now, most festivals and screening programs in the city only screened known and established filmmakers and there were few that are open to new filmmakers.

Without sacrificing our original mission NewFilmmakers has grown into recognized international screening series and over the past fourteen years has screened over 600 feature and 2,000 short films. In 2000 we brought the Havana Film Festival to New York and in 2002 we started the highly successful NewFilmmakers Los Angeles.”

Premise: In the sci-fi thriller Source Code, a member of the military has an unusual out of body experience created by science: he has 8 minutes to relive a deadly train explosion over and over again, in an attempt to discover who is responsible.

Performances: Lead actor Jake Gyllenhaal displays a very believable performance as Captain Colter Stevens. Up In The Air actress Vera Farmiga navigates her role with ease, displaying a range of emotions as she serves as a primary contact for Stevens. Michelle Monaghan brings nothing new to the table with her always likeable girl-next-door performance, while Jeffrey Wright is compelling choice for a prominent scientist in the film.

Visuals: While audiences must re-live the same sequence of events in repeat, the visuals & special effects are slightly different each time, keeping it fresh and interesting. But overall, the visuals take a back seat to the story.

Story: Until the end, this sci-fi film’s premise is fairly plausible under some assumptions of scientific advancement. The ending (which we won’t disclose) stretches the plausibility a bit too much, leaving you with a satisfying film that just misses the mark, ever-so-slightly.

Overall Rating: B-
