Our Work On The Evil West Video Game Advertising Campaign w/ Danny Trejo
Our creative agency in Los Angeles was contacted by Focus Entertainment, a French video game developer and publisher based in Paris, France, to create an online commercial teaser for their new title Evil West starring Danny Trejo (Desperado, From Dusk Till Dawn)
Founded in 1996, Focus has previously published and distributed original titles such as Sherlock Holmes, TrackMania, Runaway, and sports games like Cycling Manager and Virtual Skipper.
Our creative agency in Los Angeles put together a promo project for Focus centered around the title Evil West, the third-person action adventure that puts you in the boots of a vampire hunter rescuing a Wild West devoured by darkness, with a new video starring actor Danny Trejo in a priceless performance.
The commercial production was shot over the course of a single day at a studio in Hollywood, CA where our creative agency and production teams had limited hours to create a set full of fun props and production design from a blank slate. The director of the spot, Dessil Basmadjian, was inspired to have a single take, center point Wes Anderson like frame where Danny was the center of focus.
The acting took centerstage in this promo piece, giving the main cast the freedom to improvise in a lighthearted way. The theme for the dialogue in this commercial was to poke fun at all the games that force consumers to buy in game items in order to turn a larger profit. The point of this promo concept is the need to get back to the basics of gaming which is the reason for Danny’s emphatic line “I just want to play a game!!”
